Tech-savvy youngsters helping out elderly residents also featured highly on the list. Meanwhile, three in ten consider allotment holders who give out free vegetables as vital community figures.
A survey of 2,000 adults the top three qualities of being a cherished community member include being willing to check in on elderly neighbours, being a friendly face, and being someone others can depend upon.
