Fire St Ives: Update on cause of fire after man in his 80s dies in bungalow blaze

Firefighters have provided an update on a bungalow fire that resulted in the death of a man in his 80s. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue crews were called to a bungalow fire in Edinburgh Drive, St Ives just before 7am on Wednesday (August 27).

A man in his 80s was pronounced dead at the scene, and another man in his 20s was taken to hospital with minor injuries. At the time, a fire spokesperson said: “At 6.50am on Wednesday (27) crews from Chatteris, Gamlingay, Ramsey and Cambourne were called to a bungalow fire on Edinburgh Drive in St Ives.”

Firefighters have now completed their investigation into the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental.
