PARMA, Ohio -- The annual Ukrainian Village parade returned in grand fashion on Aug. 23 along State Road from Grantwood Drive to Lucerne Avenue.
“It was gratifying to see so many groups -- Ukrainian, along with friends of Ukraine -- participating in the parade,” said parade grand marshal Andrew Fedynsky.
“This speaks of the community’s vibrancy and long-standing efforts to support Ukraine in its current struggle to prevail over evil. The many people along the parade route witnessing this display speak to the depth of community support for Ukraine.”
The parade commemorates Aug. 24, 1991, which is the day when the parliament of Ukraine, the Verkhova Rada, formally declared an independent, sovereign and democratic Ukrainian state.
