NEW HAVEN — Conner Mantz broke the race record Monday morning at the Faxon Law New Haven 20K road race, winning in 56 minutes, 16 seconds, on a perfect weather day.
Mantz, 28, of Provo, Utah, won the race, which is the USATF national championship, for the second time since 2022, breaking away from defending champion Hilary Bor in the last mile. He broke the record of 57:37, then a world record, set by Khalid Khannouchi at the race in 1998. The course has been changed since then so it was not technically a course record.
