NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A family in Iowa is celebrating a milestone, their son, Nash, has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the most premature baby to survive.

Guinness World Records gave Nash the title to honor his first year of life.

He was born at just 21 weeks of gestation, 19 weeks earlier than a full-term pregnancy.

His name is a tribute to his father, Randall Keen, and his hometown of Nashville.

“We hoped and prayed, you know, just kept our fingers crossed that he would cross that 21-week mark, and he did. And 9 hours after that, Nash came into the world. He weighed 10 ounces. He was a little over 8 and a half inches long...he would fit in the palm of your hand.”
