PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Pekin Marigold Festival Medallion Hunt comes to an end after lucky contestants cracked the code.
The medallion, which had been hidden in McNaughton Park, was found by a group of medallion hunters, a post on the festival's Facebook page said.
"Congratulations to Jared, Forrest, Stout and Hazel Williams, Robert Williams, Trey Mowder, and Brian Biggs," the post said.
It was found off of the park's Sheridan Road Pottawatomie Trail Sheridan Road access, the post said.
The medallion hunt is a yearly tradition that started in 1978. A medallion is hidden somewhere outside on public property in the city of Pekin, and the person who finds it wins the $1,500 grand prize.
