Police said they're searching for the pilot of a catamaran who crashed his vessel into a party boat on the East River Sunday afternoon, injuring at least three people.

At around 2 p.m. the catamaran was traveling eastbound toward the party boat near F.D.R. Drive between 23rd and 25th Streets, according to an NYPD spokesperson. The catamaran fled south, officials said.

Three occupants of the party boat were transported to the hospital for minor injuries, according to the NYPD, and no one appeared to be seriously hurt.

The crash marks the first major accident in the East River since a Mexican Navy boat allided with the Brooklyn Bridge in May, killing two sailors and injuring close to 20 others.

This story is based on preliminary information from the NYPD and may be updated.
