MORGAN COUNTY, Colo. (Gray News) – One person died and several were injured after two small planes crashed mid-air at the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport in Colorado Sunday.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office , a small Cessna plane was on its way to land at the airport when it was hit in the air by another small plane. Both aircrafts caught fire.

Authorities said there were two people in each plane.

Both people in the Cessna plane had minor injuries and were OK. One person in the other plane was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the fourth person died in the crash.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim in this tragic event,” the sheriff’s office said in a post on Facebook.
