A new, expanded trash collection and recycling center is opening in Lexington this week.

The current site, located at 110 River Chase Way (between Lexington and West Columbia), will permanently close Monday, September 1, at 7 p.m. The Augusta Road Collection & Recycling Center, located at 4765 Augusta Road, will officially open to the public on Friday, September 5, at 7 a.m.

Lexington County leaders and community members gathered this past week for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new facility and its role in supporting the region’s growth.

“Closing Riverchase marks the end of an era, but the new Augusta Road site represents a major step forward in providing convenient, safe, and efficient services for our residents,” said Lee McIntyre, Director of Solid Waste Management.
