Pedals for Purpose, started in 2020 by Sarnia police officers, including Det.-Const. Ryan LeBlanc, will receive $20,000 from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 in Sarnia.

“That’s the largest donation to date that we’ve ever had,” LeBlanc said.

“It’ll keep the program running indefinitely for sure.”

The program that’s provided about 100 bikes some years to youth and young adults in need — 75 have been donated so far in 2025, LeBlanc said — works with community groups like St. Clair Child and Youth and the Children’s Aid Society, and takes referrals through emails, at pedalsforpurpose@gmail.com , and messages on its Facebook page.
