JASPER COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Lumberton man has been charged after he assaulted a woman and her 3-month-old baby and threatened them with a shotgun, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said.

Remington Boykin, 26, has been charged with injury to a child with criminal negligence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and interfering with emergency request for assistance. The sheriff’s office noted in a press release issued Monday that Boykin was also wanted out of Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for tampering with a government record.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was called to County Road 222 just before 7 p.m. Sunday regarding a man assaulting a woman and making threats with a shotgun. The sheriff’s office said the man fled the scene before deputies arrived.
