UNLV made it a clean sweep of Mountain West Conference weekly awards, with quarterback Anthony Colandrea claiming Offensive Player of the Week and defensive back Aamaris Brown taking home Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced this morning.
The duo spearheaded the Rebels’ 38-21 victory over host Sam Houston State on Friday. Colandrea orchestrated completed 19 of 23 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns, while adding a 13-yard rushing touchdown.
Brown delivered a game-changing defensive effort, highlighted by a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown. He also contributed four tackles and two sacks.
UNLV (2-0) has one of its most important games of the season 5 p.m. Saturday against UCLA at Allegiant Stadium.
