Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson took the stage at a Labor Day rally Monday in Chicago, saying "no federal troops in the city of Chicago" as the large group of protesters cheered him on.

"No militarized force in the city of Chicago," Johnson went on to say, at the "Workers over Billionaires" march and rally at the Haymarket Memorial at 151 N. Desplaines St. "We're gonna defend out democracy in the city of Chicago. We're gonna protect the humanity of every single person in the city of Chicago."

The march and rally, which began at 11 a.m. Monday, was a "call for action" for members of labor, advocacy, faith and community organizations to come together and "take a stand against President Trump's attacks on working people," a release said.
