The Chatham Diamonds have hit a historic grand slam.
They won the Ontario Baseball Association’s 12U B championship Monday at St. Clair College, giving the Chatham Minor Baseball Association its fourth banner of the season.
This is believed to be the Chatham association’s first season with four provincial titles since its formation in 1946.
The Diamonds won OBA 14U A and 15U A championships Sunday. They won the 18U B championship two weeks earlier.
On Monday, the host Diamonds beat the Stratford Nationals 7-5 to claim gold in the 12U B final.
The double-knockout tournament was extended to a fourth day when the Nationals staved off elimination Sunday afternoon with a 6-4 win over the previously undefeated Diamonds.
