WINDHAM, Maine — William "Bill" Diamond, a lifelong Maine politician who dedicated the latter part of his career to advocating for the well-being of children, died Sunday, Aug. 31. He was 80 years old.

The announcement of his death was shared in a news release by Walk a Mile in Their Shoes, a nonprofit Diamond founded in 2023 with a mission to stop the abuse and homicide of children in state care.
