The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed running back Lew Nichols to their practice squad. He joins running back Trey Sermon as the other running back for the Steelers.

Nichols was signed after some injuries racked up in the running back room in July, and he quickly made his name known during the team’s preseason games.

Over three games, Nichols finished with 11 rushes for 87 yards and five receptions for 36 yards, making his mark in that room quickly.

From 2019 to 2022, Nichols was a star running back at Central Michigan, topping the NCAA’s list for rushing yards in the 2021 season with over 1700 rushing yards. That season, Nicholas had nine games of 100 or more rushing yards. He was named the MAC Player of the Year.

All that work was enough to get him drafted by the Green Bay Pac
