GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -8-year-old Dakota Myers started training for motocross one year ago and started racing in competitions this summer. Now he’s racing to the top.
“So my friend does it so she got me into it {and} I just wanted to try it,” Dakota said. “Now I really like it, so I’ve just been racing.”
Dakota credits his best friend, Mia Schenck, for encouraging him to get into the sport.
“I just like hitting jumps.”
Hitting jumps and going fast, that’s what it’s all about.
But Dakota’s not stopping there; he’s vying for first place in the Youth Athlete of the Year online competition, which would score him $25,000. TV20 asked him what he plans to do with the money.
“I’m going to buy a new bike, sell my other bike, get money for it, then buy my little brother a bike.”
