SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon House voted early Monday afternoon to pass a last-ditch transportation funding bill aimed at stopping severe layoffs and service cuts at the Oregon Department of Transportation and public transit agencies statewide. The bill passed on a largely party-line vote, 36 to 12, and the House immediately afterward approved a resolution to adjourn sine die.

The Senate briefly convened later in the afternoon but adjourned for the day without a floor debate or vote on the bill. The bill was scheduled to receive a second reading in the Senate on Tuesday with a vote tentatively planned for Wednesday.
