CLEVELAND (WJW) -- The roar of fighter jets once again filled the skies above Lake Erie as the Cleveland National Air Show capped off Labor Day weekend.

Thousands packed Burke Lakefront Airport on Monday, eager to see some of the most powerful planes in the world.

“I’m here to see the F-15 Eagle,” one fan said.

For more than half a century, the air show has been a Cleveland tradition. This year marked its 61st anniversary, making it one of the oldest annual air shows in the country.

The three-day event featured nonstop aerial thrills, highlighted by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

On the ground, families explored aircraft up close, with displays and activities for kids.

The show remains one of Northeast Ohio’s largest tourism draws.
