HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Some people got an early start to their day off.

The Jewel City 5K was this morning in downtown Huntington.

It’s the fifth year for the event, with proceeds going to the Huntington K-9 Unit.

It also gave runners a chance to get one last workout in before the unofficial end of summer.

About 120 people took part in the morning’s 5k, which organizers said generally brings in about $2,000 for the Huntington Police K-9 Unit.
