The Texas Rangers have activated pitcher Chris Martin from the 15 day injured list and first baseman Jake Burger from the 10 day injured list, the team announced today. Because rosters expand from 26 to 28 today, no other moves were necessary.
Martin was placed on the injured list in late July with a calf strain. He made one rehab appearance for Frisco on Friday, and that was apparently enough for the Rangers to feel comfortable activating him and returning him to the active roster. In 34.1 IP over 39 appearances this year, Martin has a 2.36 ERA and 3.07 FIP, and will presumably be one of the team’s late inning options.
Burger went on the injured list with a wrist issue, and last played on August 17. He was acquired in the offseason to be the team’s everyday first baseman, but has slashe
