On Sunday, the Boston Red Sox and “The Cuban Missile” agreed to a one-year extension — fittingly, on the 15th anniversary of his MLB debut. Chapman already knew he would stay in Boston for at least one more year when he arrived at Fenway that day, but the official announcement came later.
«I was watching a video about my debut on social media,» Chapman said in Spanish at a press conference on Monday. «I was thinking a lot about that first day. A young, skinny kid accomplishing a dream in Cincinnati. I feel proud about making my MLB debut in 2010 and still being able to be here.»
