OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Protecting cancer research is a new message being pushed by the American Cancer Society Action Network after there have been discussions of cutting $18 billion from the National Institutes of Health.

As you drive on I-44 and I-235, you might notice two new billboards that are asking people to text a number and urge the U.S. Congress not to approve the proposed cuts to cancer research nationwide and keep funding for cancer research prevalent.

"This is very concerning to us. You know, investing $157 million in Oklahoma, and that funding supports more than 2,400 jobs, $447 million in economic activity," said Matt Glanville, the ACS CAN Oklahoma Government Relations Director.
