Did the New Orleans Saints just find their next Taysom Hill ?

The Saints plan on signing former Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott to the practice squad, according to the NFL Network. Mellott was drafted in the sixth round by the Las Vegas Raiders — as a wide receiver.

Despite his selection, the 23-year-old did not make the Raiders' 53-man roster and was waived last week.

It remains to be seen if the Saints plan to use Mellott in a gadget role similar to Hill, but the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero brought up the comparison when first reporting the transaction.

Hill, meanwhile, will miss at least the first four games of the season as the 35-year-old is still on the physically unable to perform list while he recovers from a serious knee injury.
