MACKINAW CITY, Mich. — The yearly walk across the Mackinac Bridge has wrapped up with a whopping 33,000 people flocking to Mackinaw City to complete it.

The walk is held each year on Labor Day since 1958, with the exception of 2020. It's the only day where the bridge is open to foot traffic.

While this year's attendance isn't a record-breaker, it is a substantial increase from last year.

"It was a picture-perfect day, with bright blue skies and a mild breeze," said Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) Bridge Director Kim Nowack. "About 33,000 people enjoyed this beautiful day and walked the bridge, with roughly 3,000 more participants taking the trek than in 2024."

The bridge closed to traffic at 6:30 a.m. and reopened at noon. This year, walkers started from both the Mackinaw City and St.
