CORNWALL, Vt. (WCAX) - Late summer is pretty sweet at Sunrise Orchards in Cornwall. Nobody knows that better than orchard owner and apple farmer, Barney Hodges.

“I grew up here and have enjoyed this beautiful property my whole life,” he said.

His father kick-started the orchard as a wholesale operation back in 1974. As soon as he was able, Barney was learning the ropes.

“I didn’t go to summer camp... I viewed this place as my summer camp,” he said.

With years of knowledge under his belt, that meant Barney was the perfect pick to take over the orchard when his father was ready to step down. He’s been at the helm for 20 years now. Fortunately, he’s got some help.

“I quickly found that the family business needed more family,” laughed Barney’s wife, Christiana Hodges.
