This day off turned into a day of action for many people.

Protests took place in several communities around the state including in Torrington, Hartford and Niantic.

They were opposing many policies of the Trump Administration and showing their support for workers on Labor Day.

“This president is taking away so many things we hold so dear,” Hilary Silver, of West Hartford, said.

There was also a focus on protecting workers and lessening the influence of billionaires.

Organizers pushed for support of Medicaid, Social Security, healthcare and education.

“The rich just keep getting richer, and they keep taking things away from us,” Lisa Holmes, of Morris, said.
