TILTONSVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) — A scare inside a Jefferson County fire station last night sent crews rushing into action—this time, for their own building.
Firefighters are used to responding to emergencies in the community, but last night in Jefferson County, the emergency happened right in their own station.
Around 8:30 last night, smoke filled the second floor of the Tiltonsville Fire Department.
Mutual aid came quickly from Yorkville, Brilliant, and Martins Ferry fire crews. After searching the building, firefighters discovered that the smoke originated from a burned light ballast inside a stairwell. The smoke was dense enough to trigger the alarm system.
