CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (WTRF) — Four people were taken into custody after a high-speed chase on Interstate 70 ended in a crash and foot pursuit, according to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden said deputies were monitoring eastbound traffic during a criminal interdiction operation late Saturday, Aug. 30, when a Mercedes sedan sped past them.

The vehicle exited Interstate 70 at milepost 178 but failed to make a turn and crashed, causing heavy damage, Paden said.

When deputies approached, the car was empty. Authorities reported hearing suspects fleeing into a wooded area near Dozer Road.

A coordinated search followed, involving the sheriff’s air support and K-9 units along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Cambridge Police Department.
