Over the past three weeks, Angie Carter has not been able to stop running so many ‘what if’ scenarios over and over in her head.

At 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, two Edmonton police officers arrived on her doorstep and told her news no mother or parent ever wants to hear.

“When I went to my window to check to see who was at the door, I saw two police officers. I knew right then, I had lost my best friend,” said Carter.

Just two hours earlier, her 23-year-old son Seth Carter was on his way home from his co-worker’s house when he swerved to avoid a vehicle going the wrong way on Anthony Henday Drive, near the Highway 14 overpass.
