SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Advocates gathered in Springfield to protest the detention of a farm worker named Demetrio, who was apprehended by ICE on August 25th while on his way to a court hearing.

The protest, organized by groups such as Neighbor to Neighbor and the Pioneer Valley Workers Center, took place in downtown Springfield.

Participants held signs and chanted slogans demanding justice for Demetrio, who they claim was taken by federal agents without due process.

"Everybody deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, not just taken off the street, regardless of their status," said Braxton Campbell, Deputy Director for Neighbor to Neighbor.
