Eleanor C. Groetch Scotia - Eleanor C. Groetch, 92, passed away peacefully at home in the company of her family on August 28, 2025, following a lengthy illness.

A Chicago native, Eleanor was born on February 16, 1933, the younger daughter of Jeremiah and Mary Slattery Casey. She was educated in Catholic schools including St. Bernard's School of Nursing, from which she graduated as a Registered Nurse. During her nurse's training, she met her husband of nearly 70 years, Donald Groetch. They married in 1956 and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, before leaving the Midwest for Schenectady, where they raised their three children. Eleanor was an outgoing person who made new friends easily.
