A tent has been erected on an Edinburgh city centre road amid an ongoing ' police incident '.

Great Junction Street in Leith is closed around Bangor Road while cops swarm the area on Tuesday, September 2.

We brought you coverage this morning when the street was shut and buses diverted away from the scene.

Shops have reportedly been shut as the road remains locked down. Images now seem to show a blue tent erected in the middle of the street.

Police tape can be seen draped across the road, deterring traffic and pedestrians.

Lothian Buses announced around 6.50am they were diverting buses away from the thoroughfare "until further notice" due to road closure.
