Voters in east Scarborough head to the polls in less than a month to pick a new city councillor, with a crowded field of candidates vying to replace the deputy mayor who led the city after John Tory's resignation.
Residents of Scarborough-Rouge Park will head to the polls on Sept. 29 to find a replacement for Jennifer McKelvie, who was recently elected as Liberal MP in Ajax. A close ally of former mayor Tory, many Torontonians were introduced to McKelvie when she assumed some mayoral powers after he left office.
Voters will choose their next representative from a crowded field of about 20 candidates. The winner will represent a massive suburban ward that stretches from Steeles Avenue E. to Lake Ontario.
