As The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens tonight for its 16th series, Brits have been sharing their most common baking mishaps.
Almost half of the respondents say they feel more motivated to don their aprons and get whisking when Bake Off graces the telly. For 55 per cent, the show reignites the joy of baking, while 54 per cent relish the opportunity to glean new ideas to experiment with.
However, research indicates that a mere three per cent of British bakers can boast that their baked goods always emerge from the oven without a hitch. On the contrary, the majority of home bakers confessed that at least two recipes had gone awry over the past year, with one being an absolute disaster.
