SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (KFVS) - A homicide investigation that began in Jefferson County, Illinois, led to the discovery of a body inside a vehicle during a traffic stop in Perry County, Illinois.

The investigation began Monday evening, September 1, after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received some information about a possible homicide that took place at an unknown location.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, initial information given to them described a suspect vehicle.

Deputies then began looking for it along with other law enforcement in southern Illinois.

Around 9 p.m. on Monday, a Christopher Police officer reported seeing the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Route 14 and Route 148.
