MACON, Ga. — Mercer University is expanding its nursing program to the Macon campus for the first time , giving 26 students the chance to complete their degrees without leaving Central Georgia .
The university launched the program this fall after receiving a $500,000 grant from the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce . Until now, Mercer nursing students had to transfer to the Atlanta campus for their junior and senior years.
Jennifer Bartlett, associate dean of nursing in Macon, said that stability was a major factor in bringing the program to Macon.
“We keep saying nursing has come to Macon and we’re very, very excited about that,” Bartlett said.
