A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after police officers were called to reports of violence in a Cambridgeshire village. The National Police Air Service (NPAS) deployed an aircraft to help search for a suspect in Elm, south of Wisbech , on Monday evening (September 1).

Cambridgeshire Police officers were called to the scene on New Bridge Lane, Elm, at approximately 7.30pm, after reports of a violent disturbance. A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and criminal damage. He remains in custody.

The NPAS Fixed Wing crew was deployed to the area from East Midlands Airport at 9.14pm, and spent around half an hour at the scene. The crew used a Vulcanair P.68R Victor, a twin-engine, high-wing aircraft.
