CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is addressing a protest planned for Tuesday this week in Cedar Rapids.
The group "Escucha Mi Voz" announced that the Department of Homeland Security plans to set up a checkpoint and blockade at the Cedar Rapids ICE office. The group intends to denounce the blockade Tuesday morning and show support for immigrant families at ICE check-ins.
ICE issued a statement today affirming its respect for the right to peacefully protest. However, the agency emphasized that it will not tolerate vandalism or property destruction.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 7:30AM Tuesday at 3351 Square D Dr. SW in Cedar Rapids.
