ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council approved a proposal to support small businesses on Cascade Road struggling through disruptions as the city performs water system repairs and upgrades in the area.
A significant chunk of roadwork was only just recently concluded ; there had been a one-mile detour in place, cutting off foot traffic to many businesses.
"When the road opened back up last week, we saw a ton of organic walk-in traffic. My revenue increased tremendously that evening and the following Saturday," said Courtney Rucker, co-owner of the restaurant Natalie Blanca .
While the sign of better days ahead was welcome for small business operators, the City Council OKd an additional step to help them fully get back on their feet from the disruptions.
