LAWRENCE — In the aftermath of Kansas football’s recent win against Wagner, KU coach Lance Leipold highlighted what his group’s shown offensively and defensively through its first two games.
Leipold, starting on defense, praised defensive coordinator D.K. McDonald for his focus on winning first down so opponents don’t have easy down-and-distance situations as a drive unfolds. Leipold also detailed the Jayhawks tackled better against Wagner, than they did in the season-opening win against Fresno State.
Moving to offense, Leipold allowed there was disappointment in losing the turnover battle against Wagner. He also, though, thinks the group has still shown it can be physical, explosive and multiple.
