Courtland Guillory lives up to billing
Brent Venables raved about freshman cornerback Courtland Guillory all offseason, and Guillory’s first game at Oklahoma didn’t disappoint.
Guillory got the start opposite Gentry Williams against Illinois State last Saturday and registered a tackle and a pass breakup. He allowed just one catch for six yards on three targets, according to Pro Football Focus.
“Just confident, long, physical, sure of himself,” Venables said of what he saw in Guillory. “He’s a fearless guy, respectfully. He’s in the work, he spends a lot of time with the details. Jay (Valai), again, has done a great job. He’s a guy that, again, within this system, he plays within the system, understands where his help is, things of that nature
