A "popular" city is set to become more accessible via daily flights from East Midlands Airport (EMA). Aer Lingus Regional will start operating daily flights to Belfast later this year.

The airline currently runs flights from the Leicestershire airport, in Castle Donington, to the Northern Ireland capital three times a week. Aer Lingus Regional is operated by Emerald Airlines.

Emerald head of commercial Ian Lough said: "We are delighted to be significantly increasing our flights between East Midlands and Belfast, making it easier for passengers to enjoy everything Belfast has to offer."

The revised schedule will offer departures to Belfast from East Midlands at 3.10pm on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and at 12pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Return flights will
