BEAVERTON, Ore. (KPTV) - In just a short period of time, generative artificial intelligence has shifted from being a taboo subject in K-12 education to a tool used in classrooms for day-to-day learning.
At Sunset High School in Beaverton, Library and Instructional Technology teacher Colette Cassinelli is helping lead the district’s rollout of its new AI policy.
“It’s challenging. It’s exciting. It’s brought a new level because I’ve been in the educational technology field for, you know, over 20 years now and, and I’ve seen this huge change,” Cassinelli said.
This year, Beaverton School District is unveiling new guidelines on generative AI use and approving select programs that can help students study for exams, conduct research and prepare classroom presentations.
