CLAY COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Clay County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against a man who allegedly caused a disturbance with a knife over the weekend.

Aaron M. Perez-Engel, 38, is booked in the Clay County jail on two charges: First-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action.

Around 2:21 p.m. on August 30, witnesses called 911 to report a man, later determined to be Perez-Engel, carrying a large knife around a shopping center.

By the time the Kansas City Police Department arrived, Perez-Engel was already gone, but the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling nearby and spotted him within minutes.

Deputies said he pulled a large knife from his waistband and started running away, so they ran after him and called for backup.
