HAMPTON — Patriot’s Corner was abuzz after a $2 million Powerball ticket was sold Aug. 30 at the beachside grocery market.

The winner has yet to come forward, said store owner Catherine Roy, who purchased the shop earlier this year from longtime beach restaurateur Al Fleury. The ticket could only be redeemed Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Concord, she said. A lottery spokesperson said as of noon Sept. 2, not one has claimed the prize.

Meanwhile, a much larger jackpot — estimated at $1 billion — is now up for grabs after no one hit the Labor Day drawing . Roy said it’s unlikely Hampton will produce two winning tickets in one weekend, but that hasn’t stopped customers from lining up with hope in hand.
