Unauthorised work next to a park was "not illegal", a Leicestershire council has said. Blaby District Council (BDC) made the comment about activity including "removal of hedgerow, erection of gates, laying of hardcore and the arrival of one static caravan and two touring caravans" which took place on land alongside Bouskell Park over the August bank holiday weekend.

BDC said at the time that it understood there were some "community concerns" over the activity, which is being carried out by the owners of the land, "particularly as the area was the subject of a planning application previously which was refused in 2020 and subsequently dismissed on appeal in 2022". The council added: "[The occupants] are seeking to address this and we expect a valid planning application to be submitted
