Dozens of homes planned for a site reportedly "at risk of flooding" in Leicestershire have emerged. Developers say that despite there being a "raised risk" of flooding, future properties will not be affected.

The outline application from Manor Oak Homes looks to create 85 properties on land south of Farndale View in Market Harborough. However, in documents submitted to Harborough District Council (HDC), the developer has acknowledged that the site itself is "at risk of flooding" and is "within 20 metres of a watercourse" - this being the River Welland.

If approved, 40 per cent of the proposed homes - the equivalent of 34 - would be classed as "affordable". A new large public open space named Farndale Meadows is also planned for the site.
