HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A man is dead after speeding on a motorcycle and crashing into parked vehicles at a local car dealership, according to the Hickory Police Department.
Around 10:20 p.m. on Friday, August 29, officers responded to the crash on US Hwy 70 SE. Police said a 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle was going west on US Hwy 70 before leaving the road and hitting two parked vehicles in the parking lot of Cloninger Ford of Hickory.
The motorcyclist, 23-year-old Elijah Jenks, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Investigators believe excessive speed was a factor in the fatal crash. No charges have been filed.
