SHREVEPORT, La. — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints delivered a major donation Tuesday to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, sending more than 24 pallets and 40,000 pounds of food to help families across the region.
A semi-truck carrying beans, pasta, flour, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, green beans, pancake mix and other staples arrived at the food bank’s Shreveport warehouse Tuesday morning.
The food bank serves seven parishes in northwest Louisiana, including Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River and DeSoto. Its programs include food distribution, emergency food boxes and other hunger-relief efforts.
Food bank officials said the large shipment will provide critical support as demand for food assistance continues to grow.
